I was in church for the...love, love love this post. I was in church for the first time on Ash Wed, too. It was an amazing experience. We just sort of 'happened' on a baptist church that was doing it. Our church doesn't do them, but there was something very sacred and holy about this, when you aren't there for the ritual. The repentance, the acknowledging of sin, walking out w/ the ashes - and the minister reminded us that when we wash our head that night, God has washed away the sins we repented of. So, so good. Love this post. I struggle w/ letting go of control...it is scary.
